A mon avis....

I think when looking at violence in video games you also have to consider the types of violence prevalent in other media such as film, books, and television. The amount of violence deemed acceptable in other media seems to be considerably more violent than in video games. I think that one of the main reasons there is so much controversy surrounding violence in games is that the majority of people who do not play games don't fully understand or accept games as a valid form of entertainment or art. There is also the common misconceived idea that games are directed only at children; the games industry is still relatively young, but the first children to play video games have now grown up and are in their 3o's and up. Most gamers these days are in that sort of age bracket.

I agree that violent games shouldn't be supplied to younger children, although I think its a question of maturity rather than age
